The Real Art Roadshow

Today the children became art detectives at an art exhibition at Grey High School.

Each child was given a small section of an artwork. They then had to go and locate the exhibit it belonged with.

Mrs Drake thought this would be like looking for a needle in a haystack. The children proved her wrong!

Congratulations Leon who found 11 artworks, Noah  6 artworks and everyone else 3 artworks each. Great observational skills and perseverance Room 5.

Mass /weight

In class we have been learning to compare the mass of 2 objects.

Blake made 2 balls of play dough  that weighed the same. He changed the shape of the balls and the play dough still weighed the same.

Milan also had 2 balls of play dough that weighed the same. She then made one ball fat and the other ball thin. When she weighed them again they still weighed the same.

The children had to predict the mass of these 2 balls.

Everyone said the big blue sponge ball would be heavier than the small green play dough ball............ BUT

                                 They both weighed the same!

The coconut

Today Mrs Drake brought a coconut to school because some children didn't know what one looked like.
What did we find out...........?

The coconut was heavy.

When we shook the coconut we could hear a sloshing sound.

The coconut had water inside the shell. The water is transparent. Some children thought milk was inside.

Most of the children liked the coconut water.

The children also discovered that coconuts are a fruit and they grow on trees.

Coconut crabs and people eat the meat(flesh) of a coconut.

What part of the coconut gives us coconut milk?

Post us your thoughts. We would love to hear from you.
